pantheryx : malawi shoot

Hi! We are Adam + Kate, the directors and photographers behind A Collective Us.

On this page you will find some examples of our work. The pieces we have chosen were shot around the world and we feel highlight our documentary style storytelling, which utilizes an artistic, human forward point of view with a cinematic feel. Along with the video examples you’ll see some environmental portraiture (all using available light), as well as a few behind the scenes photos so you can get a sense of who we are.

The Ask: To create a video that speaks to the supply chain story behind Pantheryx’s product. To film and interview Pantheryx’s executives as they travel through Malawi meeting with farmers. To tell the full story, capturing b-roll landscape and portrait moments of the people and the places we stop along the way. We also will capture photography to use in marketing materials.

Our Approach: To maximize your content while sticking within budget we suggest shooting video and photography over the course of 4 days. Ideally we would arrive before the executives, giving us a chance to get the lay of the land, but more importantly, allowing us to capture b-roll of the people and places during the best light of day, helping us paint a picture of just who and what Malawi has to offer. On the days traveling with the executives we would create time for interviews, as well as capturing them in action. The nature of this type of shooting is very much a documentary, run and gun style of filmmaking, however when we have the extra time on the front end, it allows us to capture the cinematic moments that elevate the overall look and feel of the project.

What this means to us: We work together on all sorts of projects ranging in scale from the large, big-budget commercial jobs all the way down to the run and gun, heart on your sleeve style projects; it’s this type of diversity that keeps us fresh and inspired. Telling heartfelt, human-centric stories of people helping other people, reminds not only us, but the viewer that there is good in this world, no matter how dark the the news may make it seem sometimes.

Let us tell your story. Let us share in the good you are doing in the world.
